Preserving the Past for the Future

North Tonawanda Historic Preservation Commission

About

The North Tonawanda Historic Preservation Commission (NTHPC) is a Certified Local Government (CLG) within the City of North Tonawanda. It was established in 2005 when the North Tonawanda Common Council adopted a Historic Preservation Ordinance, Chapter 51 of the City Code.

The Historic Preservation Commission reviews applications for alterations to the Local Downtown District and Local Landmarks, provides guidance on Preservation within the City, and acts as general stewards of the City's Historic fabric. The HPC follows the New York State and Federal processes to protect our heritage while ensuring that Preservation is used as a tool to promote growth, revitalization, and the appreciation of our diverse neighborhoods.
